Confidentiality

eChat counsellors are required to and will keep all of your personal information private except where the law requires disclosure. All records will be kept secure. The law requires disclosure:

1. •for the protection of a child;
   

2. •if there is a court order;
   

3. •to prevent a clear and imminent danger to yourself or others.
   

Your records will be kept for a minimum of 5 years in a secure and safe location. Your records will then be destroyed in a manner that protects your privacy.
